Middle East Crisis Put into Perspective
On Fox News Sunday night there was a special addition of The O'Riley Factor. This really put the Middle East Crisis into perspective. Bill O'Riley basically said that this could turn into World War Three. My opinion on this is that this very well could happen when you have two terrorist nations like Syria, and Iran. But Mr. O'Riley also said that if Isreal does destroy Hezbollah, then WWIII will not happen.
I agree with many when they say that Isreal is doing nothing wrong when it attacks a terrorists orginization. I belive that the international community need to back Isreal if the international community wants terrorism destroyed. With the situation escelating every day and no other nation sending help to Isreal the terrorists are winning. If we let Hezbollah, and others win then the War on Terror is a wast of time.
Isreal wants peace, but when a nation is surronded by other nations who want Isreals destruction how can there be peace? Isreal will do anything to make sure it's citizens are safe, as would America. Those who say Isreal is overreacting, how can they say that? What would America do if Mexicans came over into America and kidnapped two national guardmen, and killed eight civilians? America would hunt down those terrorists!!!

I have been to Israel a couple of times, to Haifa and a tour to Jerusalem, and I respect and admire the country, the people and what they have overcome. However, Israel overreacted in this situation.
How can you say that Isreal is overreacting!!! They are surronded by countries that want them wiped off the face of the map!!! Isreal has to invade Lebanon inorder to attack Hezbollah, because they are cowards and hide in civillian areas!!!
Easy. Remember Entebbe?

It is not just the Israeli’s attacking the Lebanese. It is not an idiotic tit-for-tat, you killed two of our soldiers so we get to kill two of yours. It is a war, a war being waged all throughout the world against all civilization. And in a war, when the enemies’ sworn goal is to wipe you and your nation from the face of the earth, there are only two possible outcomes: Victory, or defeat.
The North Koreans have been firing missiles towards Japan and the United States. There were seven bombs that went off in Mumbai, India a few weeks ago, killing over 200 people. There is a war going on in Afghanistan with Northwest Pakistan as a sanctuary.
There is an Iranian-Syrian-Hezbollah-Hamas alliance, and they are waging war both on Israel from Gaza and from South Lebanon. Their actions are in many ways- along with funds from Saudi Arabia- helping sustain the war against the Americans and the Iraqi people in Iraq.
The British home secretary has said that there are 20 terrorist groups in Britain with over 1,200 members. The Canadians picked up 18 terrorists recently who had acquired twice as much explosive power as was used in the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, and the terrorists had talked among themselves about capturing the Canadian prime minister and beheading him.
And finally in the United States, you had seven people videotaped in Miami swearing allegiance to Al Qaeda to overthrow the American government; and you had a plot apparently in three different countries to come together to bomb the tunnels in New York City.
So first of all, it's clearly worldwide.
But the second point is equally important. It is a war. We have active enemies, actively trying to kill the Israelis- and us- and we have to see the violence in the Middle East in the context of an active war.
And we prosecute wars to win them, not to have "reasonable response," not to have "appropriate levels of retaliation." We would not sit there and delusionally try to kill three thousand members of Al Qaeda because that was how many Americans were lost on 9/11. If terrorists started to bomb our cities, we would defeat them, and make it impossible for them to commit their heinous acts.
Every day we turn on our televisions and watch an unfolding situation, where these rockets are falling deeper and deeper into Israel than ever before; over one hundred and fifty missiles hit Israeli towns today.
Now imagine that missiles being fired from Cuba were hitting Miami. Imagine there were 150 missiles hitting South Florida. Do you think that we would say, oh, "let's have appropriate response?” "Let's have restraint? Let's be careful?” No. We would say, “clean out the people who are doing this.” We nearly started a thermonuclear war over the potential of missiles being stored in Cuba under the Kennedy administration.
Israel doesn’t have any choice.
When you have bombings in India, you have a war going on in Afghanistan, you have a war going on in Iraq, you have a war going on in Gaza and South Lebanon, you have Syria and Libya and North Korea actively plotting to defeat the democracies, you have Ahmadinejad, the leader of Iran, saying publicly he wants to defeat the Americans and eliminate Israel from the face of the earth, you have people plotting to blow up New York tunnels, you have Canadians plotting to blow up the Canadian parliament and behead the prime minister, you cannot ignore the forces plotting your destruction! We are in a war!
We need to understand that a compromise with the terrorist organization of Hezbollah isn’t an option. This isn't some diplomatic moment to wring our hands and hope that Hezbollah will become more mature.
Israel must defeat the terrorists once and for all so that their people, and our people, and the Lebanese people, can finally lay down their children at night in peace.
