Defend the GOP in the News

As one blogger pointed out, Republican Michigander, Defend the GOP was in the news on 1-28-07. The article, in the Press and Argus, told of Communication Guru and Matthew Cragg recent debate on this blog. Below is the article.

The elections have been over for three months now, but feelings on the political left and right are apparently still passionate — so much so that the vigorous debate in Livingston County's political blogosphere seems to have spilled over into a real-life shoving match.
According to posts on an Internet Web log called "Defend the GOP" — defendthegop.blog-spot.com — the blogger known as Communications Guru and one Matthew Cragg, co-founder of suburbanvoice.com, got into a heated exchange over something U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
The debate devolved into name-calling, with Cragg accusing Guru of being an unmentionable part of the female anatomy, and being anti-war — Communications Guru apparently objected to the former rather than the latter, and challenged Cragg to meet him in person and call him that to his face.
According to the blog, they met, did some finger-pointing and shoving, but ended up actually shaking hands. Cragg's last post on the encounter offered some hope for reconciliation between the left and the right.
"I really dislike a lot of what the guy says, and even how he says it," the post said. "I suspect he would say the same thing about me. But actually meeting somebody makes you see them a little differently and, aside from the differences of opinion, he seemed like somebody I could get along with."
All the Buzz is saying, is give peace a chance.
Oh, by the way, if you don't think there are enough blogs for Livingston County politicos, there's one more to add to the mix — the Livingston County Democrats. The Dems have started up their own blog atlivcodemocrats.blogspot.com.

That article was from the Press and Argus, The Buzz.

Presidential Endorsment

defendthegop.blogspot.com endorses Mitt Romney for the Republican Nomination in '08. For more information on Mitt Romney go to mittromney.com

State of the Union

I watched the State of the Union last night; pretty good. Obviously there was partisan applause, but the President got a pretty good response from Congress. The President did a good job asking the nation and Congress to support the war in Iraq or a "nightmare" will ensue. Also the President did a good job talking about things at home, i.e. alternative fuels, immigration, etc. But the Presidents plan for immigration is too liberal; guest worker plans are not going to help.

Pelosi and the Dems. were polite but obviously did not applaud a lot. Good job on the Presidents part on acknowledging the new Congress.

The President did good, but could have done better.

Rule Axed

Okay, I thought it over and I decided to revoke my rule. I saw that is was unnecessary and it is your freedom of speech, as granted in the 1st Amendment, if you choose to swear, cuss, or any other vulgar things.

Iran

Okay we all know that Iran is a very bad nation; be it helping/being terrorists, or building nuclear weapons, (not confirmed but likely). Well there is an article on MSNBC.com, (which I consider to be extremely liberal), talking about how Iran barred thirty-eight IAEA inspectors.

Here is the link, or just click on the link at the end of the article. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11682871/

To me this sounds a little suspicious. If Iran is building/creating nuclear energy just for energy, then why not let the inspectors in???

TAX HIKE!!!!!!!

Governor Granholm recently, (after elections), announced that her administration BROKE THE LAW because they spent more money than what was collected. There is a law in the State Constitution that makes it illegal to have an unbalanced budget.

If that little paragraph did not get you angry this one will. Our Governor basically said, (don't want to put words in peoples mouths), that she is going to have to raise taxes in order to make up what she messed up on!!! That is outrageous!!! Why should I or any one else have to pay for her mistake???!!! I urge you to write your Congressman/Congresswoman, and urge them not to support any tax increase in Michigan!!!

NAIAS

Yesterday I went to the Auto Show. I went to the GM, Ford, Chrysler, and Toyota booths. GM looked to be pushing out the good stuff, and there usual cars, (i.e. Suburban, Trail Blazer, Cadillac,) all looked the same but with a new twist. Ford and Chrysler same thing, but Toyota really got me angry. There booth was not well put together, and they were playing country music and showing cowboys in there videos. TOYOTA IS NOT AMERICAN!!!!! Why is Toyota showing that crap when they are a Japanese company???!!!

Liberal War on America

Okay don't get offended by this, (Mr. Guru), but I was watching Hannity's America on Fox News. Now what every you think of Mr. Hannity, it does not apply to this so if you comment, don't bring up his character.

On the show, Hannity did this segment on footage of him interviewing liberals on the streets of New York, (I think near Times Square), who were protesting the War in Iraq. Hannity questioned them on things; for instance on their plan for Iraq, what is wrong with the war, and other items.

Now given that people will act differently in front of the camera, but how they were acting was just outrageous. People were calling President Bush Hitler, or that he killed more Iraqies than Saddam. I don't think that President killed more people than Saddam or is anything like Hitler. I think that those comments were going to far.

When Hannity asked what was their plan for Iraq, they did not say one thing other than attack. Now I know certain liberals personally and they can come up with a plan, so why cant the majority of liberals come up with a plan?

Opinion

Okay, I want to be a little more fair and balanced. Since one reader constantly calls on me that I only watch what he calls the "conservative media". Since I like to be open to different opinions, (although most of the time I wont change my opinions), I want to know what news source I should get my information from. I will still watch Fox News; but I am open to what I call "the liberal media".

Boys Found

I know that this is late, but I have been monitoring comments all day.

Two boys were found Friday in Missouri. One was missing for about a week; while the other boy had been missing for four years. The kidnapper is being charged for 1st degree kidnapping. But to me this sounds like a case of a child predator. But thank God they were found okay.

New Rule

Okay, in an attempt to continue giving a place where all sides are given; and a good clean debate is executed, there will be NO MORE NAME CALLING!!! If name calling continues I am going to have to start censuring comments. I dont want to do that but I might have to.

Senator Boxer Hitting Below the Belt

Go figure a Democrat would do something like this and little media attention is given to this event.

In a Senate hearing Secretary of State Condolezza Rice was defending and stating the administrations new plan in Iraq. Barbra Boxer (D) from California, went and attacked Secretary of State Rice. She said that since Secretary Rice did not have any children, and that no one close to her was fighting in Iraq she could not make appropriate decisions.

Senator Boxer should just apoligeze. One thing that I find outrageous is the media coverage; there is none. I heard about this on The O'Reilly Factor and Hannity and Colmes. If a Republican did this it would be all over the news.

News

Sorry for the lack of updating, but I have been really working on what I should post. Here is my opinions about things in the news;

1. Pres. Bush Sending in More Troops

Okay this one took me forever, but I honestly think that President Bush's decision is the right thing to do, and from what I have heard, Iraqi forces will be taking over in November, so we should not be there much longer. The opposing people, (Liberals), need to realize that the execution of the war has not been the best; but those in power are humans and are going to make mistakes.

2. First Woman Speaker

I have no problem with women being leaders, I want the next President to be Condollezza Rice, but Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House??? I think that is the worst thing that could possibly happen. Speaker Pelosi already is showing exactly what the Republicans did, partisanship. Pelosi is not going to let Republicans present legislation; it would endager her and the Dems, so she is going to do everything that she claims, and is right, the Republicans did wrong.

3. Howell School Board

School board elections are coming up in May, one seat is completly open, and one will have to be challenged. I think that every single one of the School board officials need to be replaced with someone with common sense, and can lead Howell Public Schools properly. If the people are Dems and they can lead correctly, than let them win, if they are Republicans, same thing.

Now you heard my opinon, let me here yours.

2008

Well I know that it is a little early but I think that I need to get out my preliminary endorsement. While my choice was not my first choice I think from the ones that announced their candidacy he is our best bet. For the Republican nomination I am throwing my support for Mitt Romney.

I think Governor Romney can win in '08 because he has been a Republican governor in one of the most blue states.
