Why Romney? What are the reasoning behind your endorsement? What does he bring to the table that the others don't?
For the record - I'm still undecided unless Pence or Sanford run, and currently leaning towards Jim Gilmore.
I chose Mitt Romney because of the following reasons;
1. He is not McCain
2. I believe since he was the Governor of Massachusetts he can win liberal votes
3. After talking with certain people I think that Mitt is true Republican
4. Just look at his website.
Any further questiones?
Responses:
1. That's a good start.
2. Maybe he can win liberal votes, but will he be a liberal president?
3. I hope that's the case. After eight years of moving to the left under Bush, I'd like to see the 2nd conservative president in my lifetime.
4. Candidates websites only show what the candidates want to say. They have good information, but past records show where they truely stand.
The struggles I have with Romney are for three reasons.
1. His health care plan. We have too much government involvement in health care. (mostly due to the tort system and insurance requirements)
2. Second Amendment. He's talking a good game now, but he did sign a compromise gun ban in Massachusetts.
3. Life issues. Did he have a real conversion? I don't know.
I'll consider him if I am convinced he'll be okay on those issues, but I am very concerned at the big government direction of the republicans and do not want to see our next president go down that road.
He's better than McCain, but at this point, I'd vote for Gilmore or Duncan Hunter first.
Your first point is excelent, as is your third point, but I think that you can read your second point as that he had to do that in order make his constituents happy; while it is playing poloticts, I don't think that that incident is where he truely stands. Your two candidates are excellent but I dont think they have the name recognition. Romney does.
Hey, y'all are famous. You made the buzz section of Sunday's Argus. (1-28) (along with Matthew Cragg and Kevins/Guru)
